Capstone Turbine Corporation, the world’s leading producer of low-emission turbine systems, is currently seeking a creative Marketing/Sales Intern for a 4-6 month paid internship at their corporate headquarters in Van Nuys. This is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to learn hands-on about all aspects of Sales and Marketing in a professional yet highly creative environment. The position requires strong individual initiative coupled with the ability to work with and coordinate among various team members. Our interns learn a great deal about our businesses, develop important relationships, and build the skills necessary to prepare themselves for a successful career in Marketing and Sales.

Internship Description:

Interns receive an introduction to the firm's businesses and provide a meaningful and important role in supporting its various functions. In addition, our interns are afforded access to Capstone executive leadership and have the opportunity to interact with associates at all levels of the firm. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Learn the fundamentals of the clean energy industry
  • Support key marketing processes including website improvements, email creative, offers and digital advertising
  • Help manage our editorial calendar and content team projects
  • Database creation and maintenance and lead mining
  • Update and maintain Salesforce records as needed

Qualifications:

  • Sophomore status (or greater) majoring in Marketing, Business, or Advertising at an accredited university

JOB TITLE:              CMM Inspector

DEPARTMENT:       Quality

REPORTS TO:         Quality Manager

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:  Inspect, test and audit incoming raw materials/products including close tolerance, high precision aerospace mechanical components and subassemblies.  Electro-Mechanical inspection may occasionally be required.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide detailed inspection of mechanical components from a variety of production processes including machined, cast, forged, ground or stamped.
  • Complete documentation, reports, or other records of inspection results.
  • Coordinate with Quality Engineers, Purchasing, Manufacturing in resolution/disposition of nonconforming purchased product and verification of Corrective Action.
  • Participate in team activities to facilitate continuous improvement and preventive action efforts.
  • Supervise inspector engaged in inspection activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to closely inspect precision, close tolerance Mechanical components in detail
  • Ability to use, maintain, and calibrate a variety of measurement instruments
  • 3+ years of experience as a CMM Programmer and/or operator, PC-DMIS Preferred
  • Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 M standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering Blueprints and Specification documents.
  • Turbomachinery experience beneficial but not necessary
  • Experience with other electromechanical components/subassemblies beneficial but not necessary
  • Computer proficiency necessary, SAP experience beneficial

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma required.  2 year associates degree preferred.
  • Experience with ISO 9001/QS9000/TS16949/ AS9001 beneficial.
  • 5 Years minimum experience in Aerospace, Automotive or other High Technology purchased part verification/testing  with precision, close tolerance Mechanical components or subassemblies.
  • ASQ-CMI, CQIA, CQE certification a plus

JOB TITLE:              SIOP Purchasing & Planning Manager

DEPARTMENT:       Operations

REPORTS TO:         Vice-President of Manufacturing

LOCATION:             Van Nuys, California

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Oversee the Procurement and Production Planning functions of the Operations organization to direct activities in a manner that increases inventory turns, achieves cost reductions, optimizes lot-size deliveries, consolidates and integrates suppliers, creates an attractive working environment, reduces working capital requirements, minimizes operating expenses, maximizes product quality, and meets customer on time delivery requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the execution of the Forecast Process for New Unit Sales, Accessory Parts, and Service Parts to minimize lead time and maximize customer on time delivery.
  • Drive Inventory Turns through Material Requirements Planning to minimize working capital requirements and maximize margin for the business.
  • Manage the Planning Resources to support new product introduction efforts with Make vs Buy decisions, plan sequence of fabrication and assembly with shop floor personnel, and maintain accuracy of Manufacturing BOMs in MRP system.
  • Manage the Planning Resources to establish consistent build schedules that level load internal and external manufacturing, prepare shop work orders for internal manufacturing, and process updates to company MRP system.
  • Ensures Planners investigate cause of critical material shortages, schedule delays and initiate actions to correct these problems.
  • Advises manufacturing and engineering concerning remedial action, part rework, or in-house stock fabrication to ensure work progresses on schedule.
  • Provide reports to sales and management for new customer orders, production build schedule, and quarterly sales projections.
  • Develop strategies to increase internal and external customer satisfaction, reduce working capital requirements, reduce over head cost, and maximize on time delivery.
  • Responsible for the development of department processes using customer feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for training internal and external department members on key processes with the Planning department.
  • Develop and maintain Planning Department KPIs.
  • Oversee the daily activities of the Procurement team, reviewing and approving purchase orders, requests for parts, and MRO requirements.
  • Understand and maximize the usage of the procurement modules in SAP.
  • Create and maintain a positive interface with the various stakeholders operating alongside the Procurement department, including Sales, Quality, Engineering and Finance.
  • Responsible for attracting, hiring, training, setting goals, holding reviews, establishing accountability, and merit increases for planning and procurement department resources. 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must possess the cultural attributes of a successful Capstone employee: teamwork, accountability, transparency. A positive spirit and attitude related to work disposition a must.
  • Must be computer proficient with the PC based computer systems, Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office Suite and have an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and extensive SAP material requirements planning system.
  • Experience working with manufacturing based technology, processes and principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage within the constraints of multiple priorities.

  • Candidates with third-party certified ERP or CPIM Certification (APICS) are desired.
  • Six or more years hands-on sustained success in manufacturing procurement and planning.
  • Bilingual (Spanish or Mandarin) a plus.

JOB TITLE:              Sales and Marketing Administrative Assistant

DEPARTMENT:       Sales and Marketing

REPORTS TO:         EVP, Sales and Marketing

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:  This position supports the administrative functions of the Sales and Marketing organization in achieving our Corporate Objectives and executing our Corporate Strategy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide administrative support to the EVP, Sales & Marketing.
    • Expense reports, travel, food ordering, restaurant reservations, etc.
  • Assist in researching and gathering market data as needed and compiling data in Excel format.
  • Become proficient in using SalesForce software.
  • Data entry using SalesForce.
  • Assist in ordering and performing inventory counts of marketing giveaways.
  • Assist in marketing administration tasks including project coordination and maintenance of an extensive marketing collateral materials.
  • Assist in coordinating media/tradeshow/networking materials and events.
  • Assist in the development of a Distributor welcome packet including welcome letter, marketing collateral materials, price lists, operators & maintenance manuals, and coordination with Director of Communication for website update.
  • Assist the Training Department in administrative details.
  • Assist the EA to the CEO as needed.
  • Maintaining sales and marketing department office supplies by ordering and restocking as necessary for the sales and marketing department and the restocking of mini-fridges with beverages.
  • Work on ad-hoc projects as directed.
  • Update PowerPoint sales presentations to ensure brand standards, prepare documents for print and distribution.
