JOB TITLE: Accounts Payable Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Accounting
REPORTS TO: Accounting Manager
LOCATION: Van Nuys, California

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Responsible for and supports General Accounts Payable/Check Disbursement cycle.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Match invoices to receiving documents.
  • Prepare and distribute invoices for internal approval, tracking invoice until it is returned to the accounting office.
  • Generate accounts payable checks and mail checks to vendors.
  •  Respond to vendor A/P inquiries.
  • Research vendor statements, phone calls and discrepancies.
  • Maintains all accounts payable files.
  • Organize and match vendor returns paperwork.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be detailed oriented.
  • Must have previous experience with Windows based accounting software application.
  • SAP experience highly desired.
  • Demonstrate high degree of accuracy.
  • Must have working knowledge of basic accounting functions.
  • Exhibits excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to work in a dynamic, team environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3 years of accounting experience; or one or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

JOB TITLE
: Chief Accounting Officer/Corporate Controller
DEPARTMENT: Finance
REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer
LOCATION: Van Nuys, California

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Serves as the company’s Principal Accounting Officer.  Acts as a financial advisor to the company providing financial analysis, planning, budget control, accounting and profit & loss reporting.  Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish the goals of the finance & accounting department.  Performs a variety of tasks using a wide degree of creativity and latitude while maintaining accuracy, compliance and integrity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees the general ledger functions while assuring accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with GAAP.
  • Reviews, analyzes and interprets all financial reports, including actual and forecasted results.
  • Works with the CFO to determine accounting and tax implications for all material business decisions.
  • Manages financial reporting (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually) and presents findings and recommendations to senior management.
  • Assists in the preparation of quarterly reports to the Board of Directors, Audit and Disclosure Committees.
  • Manages the Company’s SEC filing requirements, including Form 10Q, Form 10K, proxy and Form 8K.
  • Ensures the integrity and effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting
  • Leads and directs the work of others within the department.
  • Establishes and maintains the organization’s accounting principles, practices and procedures.
  • Coordinates all tax preparation and tax review activities.
  • Performs technical accounting analysis.
  • Manages external auditors and the quarterly review and annual audit of the financial statements, while owning primary responsibility for the Company’s views on technical accounting matters.
  • Supports debt, equity and M&A transactions including due diligence and analysis.
  • Responsible for cash, equity transactions, credit and collections, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, insurance and treasury.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong working knowledge of general ledger, equity accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, income tax and treasury.
  • Must be proficient with spreadsheets and other applicable software.
  • Must demonstrate strong experience with SEC financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment where growth and professionalism will be achieved largely through accuracy, creativity, high integrity, reasoned and thoughtful judgment, sense of urgency, a balance between strategic and tactical skills and a willingness to “roll up one’s sleeves” and get into the details.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 
  • CPA certification and/or MBA
  • Must have 10 years of hands-on accounting managerial experience.
